Project Updates

We had an outstanding 87% of participants from 2004 (861 out of 986) complete the web survey again in 2007!

Here are some statistics from the most recent (Fall 2007) survey:

The majority of our participants (82%) were still attending UB during the fall semester of 2007.
18% no longer attend UB, but 85% of these participants have transferred to another higher education institution.
Approximately 4% of our participants have already graduated from college! Congratulations! 60% plan to graduate during the Spring of 2008.
74% (629 participants) currently work, with 81 of those women (13% of those with jobs) working full-time.
This fall, only 26% of participants were still living on campus (down from 33% during fall 2006), while 75% live off-campus in either an apartment (50%) or in their family’s home (25%).
39% (335 women) are currently single, while 57% (488 women) are in a monogamous relationship.

Here are a few statistics from our original Fall 2004 survey:

Most women completed the survey in 23 minutes.
A majority, 76.6 % of our respondents lived on campus or with parents or close relatives (21.1%).
The average age of participants was 18.2 years.
74.9% of participants were of European American descent.
Most women reported taking 5 courses or 15 credit hours at UB during fall 2004.
70.8% of participants reported drinking alcohol during the year prior to attending UB.
71% of participants reported drinking alcohol since attending UB.
